Case study · Youth nonprofit

Tampa kids made the honey. Their website kept it a secret.

SEEDFOLKids is a kid-run honey business inside What We Could Be Exchange, a Tampa nonprofit. We fixed their online store in 2025. In 2026 they asked for the rest: a brand, a website of their own, donations, and books that said the program earned more than it did.

Phase one · Summer 2025

In person worked. Online didn’t.

Every Saturday at Ybor Market, a table of honey made by Tampa elementary students had a loyal following. Jalapeño. Hazelnut. Madagascar vanilla bean. The regulars knew where to find it. Google did not.

Online, the honey lived on the parent nonprofit’s website, behind a menu link most visitors would never think to click. The homepage never mentioned honey. Checkout couldn’t reliably take a credit card. And nobody could say how much honey had sold, because nothing was tracking it.

So we started where a customer starts. In two to three weeks, we:

  • Walked the store page by page, then rebuilt the path to buying: a honey promo on the homepage, a clear “Shop Honey” link, and product pages with real descriptions.
  • Fixed checkout so it takes credit and debit cards, with payment and pickup options.
  • Set up their Google Business Profile, so local searches could find the honey too.
  • Connected Square and QuickBooks with categories and dashboards, so honey sales finally showed up in the books. QuickBooks setup

Phase two · Spring 2026

Then they asked for the whole build

Over 13 weeks, we built the rest:

  • A brand of its own: strategy, guidelines and a logo suite, approved by the founder.
  • A website of their own, with its own honey store and a checkout we tested before launch.
  • A donation page with a $50K goal bar, wired to their payment processor.
  • Online volunteer sign-up that replaced a paper list of about 100 names. CRM setup
  • Search and Google: SEEDFOLKids now shows up when you search its name, and a QR code at the market table collects reviews.

The books

The books said $91K. The real number was $56K.

Most businesses wish their numbers were bigger. This one needed them smaller, and true.

Duplicate entries had inflated the program’s 2025 income by about $35K. We cleaned up three fiscal years of QuickBooks, re-cut each year, and fixed contractor compliance along the way.

Why want the smaller number? A nonprofit runs on trust. Donors, grant committees and the year-end tax filing all rely on the same books, and an inflated year shows every one of them a bigger program than the one that exists.

The outcome

Now the books match the jars

The kids still grow it, cook it and bottle it. Now people can find the store, it takes cards, volunteers sign up online, and when a donor or grant committee asks what the program earns, the books give a straight answer. A real kid-run business, with numbers that finally prove it.

The team revamped our website to increase our sales and streamlined our QuickBooks, making our business more accessible and appealing to online customers. They truly deliver.
